Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Practice in Pandemic Conditions

Objective A novel coronavirus, which is termed COVID-19 or SARS-CoV-2, was declared a pandemic by the WHO since March 2020. Endoscopy potential route for infection. Because of this reason, gastroenterology associations around world recommended suspension non-emergency endoscopy. The aim our study to investigate characteristics emergency endoscopic procedures performed during period and compare with same previous year. Material Methods Our endoscopy unit only center in city where intervention therapeutic are on adult patients. Only urgent between 16 May 18, when most intense, were evaluated. staff room used full personal protective equipment all irrespective whether not test COVID-19. Results 96 upper (56 them GI bleeding), 26 lower (14 bleeding, mostly malignancy) 27 ERCP carried out. one patient that 62 years old male, negative typical symptom query, detected PCR positive day after procedure. In 2019, we had 98 25 endoscopies 99 indications. Conclusion process caused extreme changes procedure practice also All units should always be accoutered management such as gastrointestinal bleeding.
